Wer hat Schuld- Verteiler? (CSI)
Although I know on line diagnostics can be difficult I have a persistent problem with my CSI. During normal driving (60-70 mph) and from 1700-3000rpm the car runs uneven" it is as if it gets uneven amounts of fuel or ignition problems. Accelerates beautifully.
This winter I have changed:
* Injectors (new)
* temperature sensors (new)
* Could start valve (new)
* repaired the cam mechanism inside the throttle housing (completely worn out)
* new trigger points
* new points and condenser
* new rotor" cap and leads
* new coil
* Bought a new pressure sensor for perfoming adjustment (old one is good - no leaks at least)" enrichening does not help much" neither does leaning out the mixture
* Checked all values for cold engine at the ECU connector - fine and within limits
* Checked fuel pressure (2 bars- OK)
* Cleaned the throttle valve switch and tested the car with and without the switch in function- to no avail
* Checked for manifold leaks and changed all gaskets
* New fuel lines (all the way from the tank) including new filters
And the car behaves the same way!!!!!
So there are two more items to check- the ECU itself and the distributor (and the harness- but for now I have taken it out of the consideration)
ECU- rumours are that they are robust and either they work or not" not the prime suspect for the time being
Distributor- wear cam/shaft and the weights- could be. Car has covered some 140kmls. With the rotor installed I was able to increase the point gap by about 0.2-0.3 mm by pushing my thumb radially in the points direction. Unusual?" according to the book it seems outside the spec. I guess if the cam wanders around this could give some ignition problems but is this a common failure? New distributors are hideously expensive" a known good one could have taken the distributor out (or in ) the equation.
Any advice" for the time being I am extremely frustrated about this after having spent $$$$ without sorting out the problem. Have seen posts about upgrading to 528I distributors with Electronic ignition (where does the trigger points go then?). Just changing to Pertronix would not sort the problem if the distributor is worn I would think.
Anyone have a known good one for sale?

Re: Wer hat Schuld- Verteiler? (CSI)
Hallo Nils"
